Two important factors at every school are information and safety. Students and teachers need to have access to libraries all over the world, research tools, audio/visual materials, periodicals and more. The internet is the perfect way to bring this information into the schools. Therefore, school systems have been quick to adopt IT strategies resulting in today’s “wired” classrooms and educational facilities.
However, the learning environment needs to be safe. In fact, it should be so secure that safety isn’t even on the minds of students and educators. As a result, time-lapse VCRs and computer-based DVRs that utilize video from analog surveillance cameras have been an important part of the overall security of school campuses for many years now.
Today there are thousands and thousands of educational facilities all over the world that are already wired for IT and surveillance. Additionally, IT infrastructure is always an important component of any newly built school or university building. The exacqVision video management system is geared to utilize all of these resources. While every exacqVision system takes advantage of today’s high definition megapixel network surveillance cameras, our hybrid systems incorporate existing analog cameras as well.
The result is state-of-the-art surveillance, flexibility and cost efficiency. Moreover, the popularity of Macintosh computers in the classroom prompted Exacq Technologies to create a version of our client software for the Mac.

exacqVision Hybrid Video Management Systems
(VMS) were installed in Bloom Township High School
District 206 to maximize the safety of students and
staff. Nine 32-input exacqVision Hybrid
Systems were installed to replace aging DVRs that
were recording 225 analog cameras in two high
schools and an administration building. Each school
has the exacqVision client software installed
on the principals and secretaries PCs that have
access to only those cameras located in their
building. When an incident is reported staff will
search digital video recorded to investigate and
support their findings. Video can be easily exported
to a DVD or USB flash drive and can be shown to
students, parents or police as evidence. Video
evidence helps Bloom Township Schools reduce repeat
offences.

exacqVision Education Case Study - Vallejo School District
|
The Vallejo City Unified School District is a medium-sized K-12 school district serving 15,500 students. The District is comprised of 16 K-5 schools, 4 Middle Schools, and 3 comprehensive high schools.
The exacqVision video surveillance system
installed at Jesse Bethel High School was
credited with cracking the case of the beating of a
Vallejo high school student in 2009. Video from
Jesse Bethel High School's surveillance cameras
pointed the way for Vallejo police to find, and
identify the suspects . The district's assistant
superintendent Mel Jordan said the video is high
quality, and everything seen by the cameras is
recorded. "This system is a very positive system,"
he said. Watch the news report on the Vallejo School surveillance system |
Instead we bought the new surveillance system. It’s worth every dollar and more."

exacqVision Education Case Study - Lake Forest High School
|
Located 30 miles north of Chicago, Lake Forest High School serves the residents of Lake Forest, Lake Bluff and Knollwood. Originally built in 1935, the facilities have had substantial and continual renovation.
In 2008, with the aid of Video & Sound Service,
Inc., Lake Forest High
School installed the exacqVision Video
Management System (VMS) software on two Dell™
PowerEdge™ 1950 Servers. The network video
surveillance solution incorporates 89 cameras
providing over 100 views of the historic
campus on Chicago’s North Shore. While the system
utilizes one Sony PTZ camera, the rest of the
cameras are megapixel models from Arecont Vision.
Several 8180 and 8360 cameras provide multiple,
unique views from a single camera. The software
resides on a 2000 user network utilizing Cisco
Catalyst 3750 switches that also features an IP
telephone system. |
The camera licensing for the software was simple and a lot less expensive than the other options we were evaluating. Little to no training was required for our personnel.”
