ISC West 2012 just wrapped up in Las Vegas. It was a busy and successful show for us. Our new, larger booth enjoyed extremely heavy traffic throughout the three-day show; our products were on display in a number of third-party integration partner booths, and we previewed new products, including:

Our new exacqVision Edge product, a complete Enterprise VMS server running on an IP camera, was featured. Initially supporting Axis IP cameras with ARTPEC 3 & 4 processors, exacqVision Edge loads directly onto the IP camera. Edge provides complete exacqVision Enterprise functionality without the need for an external server. Edge cameras appear in the camera tree just like cameras from any other server, and can be mixed and matched with existing exacqVision servers. Ideal for add-on cameras to existing systems where additional servers are too costly or not practical, for wireless outdoor cameras where consistent network connectivity is an issue, for short-term or covert deployment where there is no network connectivity, and for installations requiring distributed storage for high reliability. Ease of deployment for integrators: install and configure exacqVision Edge at the shop, then simply ship the cameras to the site for mounting and POE connection to network.

exacqVision 4.9 – Our latest release, Version 4.9, includes extensive new Search and Playback features, including Thumbnail Search. Finding the desired video is faster and easier than ever, and thumbnail search is ideal for low-bandwidth remote connections. Other new features include significant client video display speed improvements, new enhancements to exacqVision Video Wall including switched Views on alarm, enhanced Maps with integrated Soft Triggers, server management enhancements with new S.M.A.R.T. monitoring capability, new Hikvision native IP camera support, new fisheye IP camera support from Vivotek and ACTi, new encoder support from Axis, and more.

exacqVision Surveillance Keyboard – The new Surveillance Keyboard was shown, an ideal add-on to exacqVision systems. PTZ Joystick, 10 button numeric entry, 16 user defined buttons, left/right arrow wheel, and firmware custom-designed for exacqVision VMS.

Elsewhere on the show floor, exacqVision integration with IP cameras was featured in the Samsung booth, in the Bosch booth, in the IQinVision booth (running Edge), in the CNB booth, and in the StarDot booth. On the Access Control side, exacqVision integration with PremiSys Access Control system was featured in the IDenticard booth, and integration with S2 NetBox and S2 Pronto Access Control systems was featured in the S2 Security booth. Distribution partners Anixter and ADI were also highlighting exacqVision.

We certainly appreciate all of our integrators, distributors and end users who came by the booth. We’ll be back next year for ISC West 2013. Some pictures from the show are below. You can also view more pictures here.

Version 4.9 of the exacqVision Video Management Software is now available. This latest version updates exacqVision Start, Pro and Enterprise, and is compatible with all exacqVision servers (hybrid, IP and COTS servers). It incorporates new features, enhancements and improvements, continuing the delivery of regular software updates.

Version 4.9 is available for download here:
http://exacq.com/downloads

Key features include the following:

New Thumbnail Search

Optimized Video Caching in Timeline Search

New Video Wall Features

Faster Client Display

New Triggers on Maps

New S.M.A.R.T. Monitoring in exacqVision Servers

New Hikvision IP Camera Integration

IP Camera Integration updates from ACTi, Axis, and Vivotek

New Product – exacqVision Surveillance Keyboard

Here are some of the features in detail:

New Thumbnail Search
Thumbnail Search has been added to the Search page in Version 4.9. Thumbnail Search enables immediate visual assessment and the ability to quickly find the video needed. Fast, easy zooming in and out of search time frames, and forward and back in time. Instantly play back video from any thumbnail.

The thumbnail images are small in size, making thumbnail search ideal for low-bandwidth remote connections.

exacqVision Start, Pro, Enterprise

Optimized Video Caching in Timeline Search
New timeline search enhancements optimize caching of video downloads. Whether moving forward or back in time and selecting a different point with which to begin playback, video already downloaded stays in the cache. The new timeline optimized video caching is ideal for low-bandwidth remote connections.

exacqVision Start, Pro, Enterprise

New Video Wall Features
New Version 4.9 Video Wall functionality enables switching of Views on the video wall. User-created views can be displayed via event monitoring-based triggers such as motion, alarms and serial data.

Video Wall is a standard, included feature with exacqVision Pro and Enterprise at no additional cost.

This video wall image was taken at the Berklee College of Music.

exacqVision Pro, Enterprise

Faster Client Display
Version 4.9 client enhancements further leverage the GPU with optimized use of Direct3D and OpenGL. exacqVision Client video display rates are up to 75% faster. Live video is more fluid. The speed improvements will be seen on all exacqVision clients: Windows, Linux and Macintosh.

exacqVision Start, Pro, Enterprise

New Triggers on Maps
Soft triggers (user-defined events) created in exacqVision can now be integrated into Maps.

Access control operation (e.g. opening doors), video analytic alarms and other events can be placed on Maps, and can be viewed and controlled directly from the map, much the same way a PSIM solution would operate.

New S.M.A.R.T. Monitoring on exacqVision Servers
Version 4.9 adds S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) monitoring to all exacqVision servers. S.M.A.R.T. monitoring, in conjunction with the Enterprise-class drives used exclusively in exacqVision servers, helps anticipate drive failures by monitoring many aspects of the drive’s health.

exacqVision Start, Pro, Enterprise, Enterprise Health Manager

Hikvision IP Camera Integration
This latest release, compatible with all exacqVision Hybrid and IP video surveillance systems, incorporates new features and enhancements, and continues our quest for rapid, incremental updates.

Version 4.4 is available for download here. Key features in the 4.4 Release include:

Bosch IP camera support via ONVIF

Export to Quicktime enhancements

Enhanced ‘My Systems’ reporting and functionality

ACTi privacy mask support

German translation update

Here are some of the features in detail:

We have found PSA-TEC to be of considerable value to us, as it affords us the opportunity to spend some in-depth time with the PSA member resellers.

One of the most important parts of the conference is the training sessions. We held one of our day-long exacqVision technical reseller training sessions on Tuesday, where we had a pre-registered full house as well as some dealers who added the course on-site.

Wednesday morning was the Vendor Awards Banquet, the result of PSA member surveys ranking vendors on overall products, support, pricing, and service to the membership. We were very honored to receive the "Superstar Vendor Achievement Award" this year, the highest award PSA offers. Our sincere appreciation goes out to the entire PSA member base for this award.

After the awards breakfast was the trade show. This was the first year at the Rosemont Convention Center, and the upgraded facilities were a great change of pace. We had a packed booth the entire show, and the increased space and wider aisles were most welcome. We showed our latest exacqVision Version 4.1 features, as well as a sneak peek of the upcoming Version 4.2 features, including Sanyo IP camera support and ONVIF support, using Bosch and other ONVIF-compatible cameras. We also were using IP cameras from Axis, Vivotek, IQeye, Panasonic, ACTi, Sony, and Arecont Vision, who was also right across the aisle from us.

Additionally, we also featured our iPhone & iPad surveillance app, which allows full connection to all exacqVision servers, live viewing with multiple camera layouts, and search and playback of recorded video.

Sam Pfeifle of Security Systems News gave his take on the show in this blog post. Wednesday night was the popular PSA-TEC Jam Session, and Sam was live-streaming the band over his iPhone via ustream.com. He posted archival video of that event here.

Our thanks once again to the entire PSA organization for the great job they did with this years’ well-run event. Below are some pictures and a video from the show floor. Click on each for a larger image.

The large number of servers replicates an enterprise video surveillance deployment, complete with a full range of cameras of varying types, brands, resolutions and compression formats.

The ACTi server is running on our new exacqVision EL embedded Linux Hybrid NVR appliance. There are eleven ACTi IP cameras connected, including their new H.264 models. Since the exacqVision EL is a hybrid server, we additionally have 16 analog cameras connected, for a total of 27 video sources on this demo server. As with all of our demo servers, audio channels, POS inputs, and user-activated triggers are also connected.

The Security 2008 Australia show was held last week at the Sydney Convention Centre. This is the largest physical security trade show in Australia, and our agent for the entire region, Zone Advanced Protection Systems, had a prominent booth on the show floor.

Zone was showing their full line-up of products, including ICx thermal imaging, intelligent sensors and radar surveillance systems; ioimage video analytic cameras; and ACTi IP video cameras. But certainly a highlight of their booth was the exacqVision IP video surveillance systems combined with the new Arecont Vision h.264 megapixel IP cameras. These new h.264 compression-based megapixel cameras (Arecont models AV5105, AV3105, AV2105 and AV1305) provide a tremendous benefit in reducing both storage space and network traffic. Since these cameras have become available, we’re seeing upwards of 10x average file size reduction with the h.264 models vs. the corresponding MJPEG models.

Bill Nolan, Managing Director of Zone, reported that the new cameras with the exacqVision software were a hit: “The customers GOT it and so it made megapixel much more interesting.” One visitor to the booth said this combination was “the first real megapixel management system I’ve seen.” The fact that the exacqVision software runs natively on Windows, Linux and Macintosh, as well as browsers and mobile devices, was also a big draw. Bill summed up the exacqVision response at the show by saying “it was instantly understandable by the trade and will migrate IP systems to the forefront of the buyers mind by its great management of megapixel cameras.”

Our congratulations to the crew at Zone for yet another successful show. Zone will exhibiting the exacqVision products at two additional trade shows this month, the JAA Australian Jewellery Fair 08 in Sydney next week, and the Security in Government 2008 show in Canberra in two weeks. Zone can be reached as follows:
