Report from BICSI Spring Conference, Dallas

We’re at the BICSI Spring Conference in Dallas, exhibiting the exacqVision IP video surveillance software in the IPVS Magazine booth, along with IP cameras from Axis and Toshiba.

The shift to IP-based video surveillance is certainly in evidence here.  BICSI members are primarily data network infrastructure and design integrators and architects.  Most everyone we spoke with indicated that in the last year they have begun specifying and installing video surveillance in addition to the data communications networking.

A key point of interest in the exacqVision system in the IPVS booth was the fact that we were running both the exacqVision server (collection and recording point for all of the IP cameras) as well as the exacqVision client (video management software user interface) on a low-power laptop computer.  exacqVision IP software does not require high-end servers to run routine IP camera video surveillance systems.  In addition, complete exacqVision hybrid systems can seamlessly merge full framerate, full resolution analog video with IP video, again without requiring high-end servers.  That, combined with the low price point per video camera with exacqVision software, generated a great deal of interest from the BICSI members.

Our thanks to Eric and Brian at IPVS Magazine for organizing the booth, and to Lee Muratori of Toshiba and Larry Newman of Axis for their support and assistance in the booth.
